It is so often said that laughter is the best medicine and this is exactly the kind of medicine that our Jabulani hospital entertainers administer to the children in the hospital wards.
Captain Courage is an exclusive ‘boys only’ project filled with adventurous activities to reward these children for their bravery.
The Queen for a Day initiative is a Reach For A Dream project that is designed to lift the spirits and build the confidence and self-esteem of little girls fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Camp Sunshine is all about fun, laughter, friendship, team activities, games and sports.
Families have an opportunity to rebuild their relationships and meet other families facing similar challenges. Recreational hours allow children to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood while their parents find quiet moments and reaffirm their support for one another.
We bring joy and comfort to hospitalised children by giving them beautiful, warm, cuddly teddy bears. The bears provide a welcome distraction from the medical treatment that the children are receiving and will help alleviate some of the anxiety and fear that children may experience whilst they are in hospital.
Slipper day is a simple and fun way to support Reach For A Dream. By merely buying a R10 wristband and wearing your slippers out of the house, you are supporting children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with life threatening illnesses.
This incentive, to wear the comfiest slippers you have, on Slipper day, comes with the knowledge that because of your contribution children’s dreams are being realised.
Volunteers are involved in every project that Reach for a Dream undertakes, each generously giving of their time to help in whatever way they can.
Thank you to each volunteer who has helped in realising the dreams of the children, each one of you has played an important role in this process.
If you would like to volunteer, please complete the online application form.
The Dream Riders are dedicated cyclists who commit themselves to riding the Telkom 94.7 Cycle Challenge for Reach for a Dream. Each year a team of cyclists tackle the challenge with the thought of the Reach for a Dream children, fuelling their legs to keep pedalling.
To date the Dream Riders have raised over R6 million, with each individual rider raising R1800 for Reach for a Dream.
The Aircraft Raffle has been running since 1998 and has helped fulfill the dreams of thousands of children. The prize for the lucky winner each year has been an aircraft and a pilot’s license course, fulfilling their own dream while also helping to grant the children, their dreams.
The money raised from the raffle leaves children’s hopes flying high as their dreams become reality
