Each month, we fulfil hundreds of dreams, bringing smiles to the faces of brave children. Our Dreams Matter feature is a look at the special moments that have brought joy and inspired many to be resilient and hope for a better tomorrow.

 

Princess Naledi’s royal movie affair

Naledi is a five-year-old lively girl from East London. Diagnosed with a rare soft tissue cancer, she dreams of being a princess one day. Her time spent playing with dolls with her sisters brings Naledi unimaginable joy and welcome relief from her illness.

On her dream day, she changed into a beautiful purple princess gown and sparkling tiara to mark her as the beautiful people’s princess.

Her favourite thing to do is watch movies, it was no surprise when she received special treatment at the cinema. Her royal affair was complete with pictures taken of her and here family as they were getting ready to enjoy the movie Gabby’s Dollhouse.

Her dream day brought Naledi immense joy and created lifelong memories for her and family.

 

Chef Mpho creates the vibes in the kitchen

15-year-old Mpho from Cape Town is passionate about cooking and dreams of becoming a chef. Bravely living with Crohn’s Disease, Mpho is a vibrant teenager who loves to dance around.

A chef in the making, Mpho loves experimenting with recipes and creating meals to share with his family.

On his dream day, he burst with excitement when he arrived at The Beach Grill Restaurant’s kitchen and was presented with an apron. He created hearty meals with the help of the head chef and kitchen staff, learning more about what goes on in the kitchen.

His dream laptop was revealed over lunch, his joy palpable. He excitedly shared that his new laptop will make it easier for him to look up new recipes and sharpen his cooking skills.

 

Firdous’ thrilling adventure to Durban

Seven-year-old Firdous is a very sweet and energetic young girl with an imaginative mind. Bravely living with cirrhosis, she loves to dream big.

When her dream was revealed to her, she was confused but quickly became excited when she realised that she’s going on a big adventure to her favourite place, Durban.

She became the most inquisitive tourist, going to the beach and spending time at uShaka Marine World. Firdous’ adventurous energy shone through when she held a reptile like it was the easiest thing to do on earth.

Her bravery is why we believe dreams matter. They inspire children to face their illnesses with courage and dream of a brighter tomorrow.
