Johannesburg, South Africa – 11 December 2023: As the holiday season gets into full swing, we are delighted to announce a flurry of enchanting initiatives aimed at making dreams come true for the brave children supported by Reach For A Dream. From festive partnerships with Toys R Us and Vitality MoveToGive to Disney’s WISH-Inspired Chari-Trees and a heartwarming Christmas song, there are numerous ways you can help sprinkle extra magic this year. These efforts not only spread joy but also provide crucial support to children battling life-threatening illnesses.
Spread Joy with Toys R Us this festive season
We have teamed up with Toys R Us to sprinkle some extra magic this festive season.
Next time you’re shopping at your nearest Toys R Us or Babies R Us, just add R5 to any purchase until 24 December 2023. That little extra goes a long way in making dreams come true for children fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Donate your Ðiscovery Miles through Vitality MoveToGive
We’ve teamed up with Vitality MoveToGive to create magical moments for children fighting life-threatening illnesses. Achieve your weekly exercise, drive, or spend goals through Vitality Active Rewards to earn Ðiscovery Miles. You can then donate your Ðiscovery Miles to Reach For A Dream through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app until 16 January. Click here for more information.
Donate a Plush Toy at Disney’s WISH-Inspired Chari-Trees
Step into a world of wonder and magic as you visit the Disney-themed Chari-trees, inspired by the enchanting latest Disney release, WISH. These whimsical trees – and one incredible hot air balloon – adorned with an array of delightful Disney plush toys, are now gracing various malls across South Africa. You can make a cash donation towards the purchase of a plush toy on the trees, with both the toy and the money raised being donated to Reach For A Dream. In addition, for every Disney plush toy purchased from Toys R Us, R5 will be generously donated to help us fulfil more dreams.
The Chari-tree installations can be found until 24 December at the following participating malls: Clearwater Mall, Eastgate Shopping Centre, Fourways Mall, The Glen Shopping Centre, Hyde Park Shopping Centre, Melrose Arch, Rosebank Mall, and Sandton City in Johannesburg; Woodlands Mall in Pretoria; Canal Walk Shopping Centre, Capegate Shopping Centre and Somerset Mall in Cape Town and Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Durban.
Stream “Kersfees in die Vreemde”
Light up a child’s life this festive season by streaming the newly released song “Kersfees in die Vreemde” (“Christmas in the Unknown”) by the talented young South African artist, Niamh Beatrix. “I chose Reach For A Dream because the charity makes a memorable difference in the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses – children who very often must spend Christmas in the ‘unknown’,” Niamh shares. Every stream counts and helps us make dreams come true for our brave dreamers.

Get your Jumper For Joy and Spread Festive Cheer
We are ringing in the festive season with a joyful jersey knitted to make a difference. Created by The Nicoll Foundation and Jonsson Workwear, the Jumper For Joy makes more than a statement. Support our Gift-Wrapping Initiative in Kwa-Zulu Natal
Reach For A Dream is wrapping shoppers’ gifts at Gateway Theatre of Shopping, as well as at Toys R Us stores at Ballito Junction, Gateway, and The Pavilion until 24 December in return for a donation. While there is no fixed fee, we suggest a minimum donation of R20.
