For over 37 years, Reach For A Dream has been fulfilling the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses, creating magical moments that bring hope and happiness to their toughest days. With six dreams fulfilled daily, the organisation continues to inspire resilience and positivity among young dreamers.
16-year-old Joshua from Johannesburg enjoys spending his time cycling with his family. He got into cycling following his cancer diagnosis, a sport he passionately chose because he believed that one day he will be well enough to cycle professionally.
His illness did not dim his fighting spirit and he continued to be the lively and full of life boy his friends and family knew him to be.
When he had his dream fulfilled in 2023, the Titans Cypher Mounain Bike he received pedalled him further towards his dreams. The mountain bike gave Joshua the strength he needed to face his illness with brave courage and follow his passion.
The Power of a Dream
With his new bike, Joshua took part in Reach For A Dream’s Dream Riders, a yearly fundraiser where cyclists ride in the 947 Ride Joburg to help make dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses. His dream come true meant so much to him that this cycle challenge is on his calendar every year.
This year, he reminisced over the day his dream came true. “Reach For A Dream got me the most beautiful new mountain bike, I love it very much,” shared the excited Joshua after completing his third Dream Riders.
Dreams Matter
His belief in the power of a dream keeps Joshua focused on his own dreams and always willing to go the extra mile to put smiles on people’s faces.
Joshua’s remarkable story is just one of many examples of how Reach For A Dream brings light to children facing life-threatening illnesses. By fulfilling dreams, the organisation creates lasting memories, instils hope, and shows children that joy is still possible.
Join us in making more dreams come true by referring a child with a life-threatening illness today. Together, we can bring hope and happiness to even more young dreamers.
